Meyer Logistics Announces Chicago, IL Location Jasper, IN | July 22, 2013 Meyer Logistics, Inc., a leader in automotive specialty products marketing and distribution, announces the addition of its Chicago, IL location. The cross-dock will have a direct feed from Meyer's Jasper, IN distribution hub which houses one of the largest inventories of automotive accessories in the nation. “The Chicago cross-dock will improve delivery times to certain Meyer accounts while reducing our fuel usage in Northern Illinois and Iowa,” states Fred Sermersheim, Fleet Manager of Meyer Logistics. “Fuel prices in the Chicago land region are very high, and keeping our fuel burn to a minimum while keeping service levels high is key.” “We are working feverishly to adapt to ever changing trucking regulations,” states Jeff Braun, CFO of Meyer. “We have been taking the necessary steps to relocate and change routes to comply with the latest round of Hours of Service regulations which were enacted July 1st. Unfortunately, these one size fits all rules apply to all types of logistics companies even though most are designed to curb fatigue in over the road, long haul trucking. The vast majority of Meyer’s drivers are courier style with ten stops on average per day making the mandatory 30 minute off duty period after 8 hours of driving particularly difficult to understand. We hope to grow our customer base and ultimately pass on these increasingly higher compliance costs.” About Meyer Logistics, Inc. Press Release Contact: |
